Eid Mubarak! Thousands flock to park to celebrate end of Ramadan

More than six thousand people have already been down to Burgess Park today to celebrate Eid, the Muslim festival to mark the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

A total of fifteen thousand are expected to attend the event before the day is out.

The day started at 10am with traditional outdoor Eid prayers  with  stalls of food, crafts and activities for children and the whole family filling the park as well as a fun fair.

Now in its fifth year and run by the Southwark Muslim Forum is set to break its eight thousand visitors record last year as they have already had six thousand people come to the park this morning.
