Consultation opens on plans for old Dulwich Hospital

Residents have four weeks to have their say on the future of the Dulwich Community Hospital site after public consultation opened this week.

The old hospital, on East Dulwich Grove, will be converted into a community secondary school and health centre, a transformation that has been a long time coming.

Last October, the NHS finally signed over two plots of land, ensuring plans for the new Charter East Dulwich secondary school could go ahead.

The land was handed to the Education Funding Authority, with a final plot to be transferred once the new health centre is built.

Alex Crossman, head teacher of The Charter School East Dulwich, said this week: “We’re grateful to our local community for their continued engagement with the development of our exciting new school.”

The proposals and a survey are available online at http://tinyurl.com/CharterSchoolED, and will also be on display, along with consultation forms, in the exhibition area of the hospital building until 19 April 2016.

You can find out more about the proposed health centre at www.southwarkccg.nhs.uk/our-plans and about the planned school at www.chartereastdulwich.org.uk.
