Tenth free film festival to screen in Peckham and Nunhead next month

The tenth Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festival will run for ten days in September with seventeen events across SE15.

Running from Thursday 5, to Sunday 15, September, highlights this year include the opening night at Peckhamplex for the London premiere of The River and the Wall, and an outdoor screening of cult black comedy Harold and Maude at Nunhead Cemetery on Saturday, September 7.

The festival also includes community workshops and screenings of short animations made by young people from the area.

One of the festival’s founders, Howard Francis, said: “Over the years people have enjoyed the range of events that we have organised.

“We have tried to take film out to the local community in locations that give people different experiences of watching a film.”

The team are also scouting for volunteers to help join their ranks. Festival coordinator Neal Browne said: “We’re grateful to all the local volunteers who’ve helped run the last ten festivals.

“Coming from every walk of life, they’ve brought their own event ideas and film tastes into the mix, while picking up extra skills along the way.

“So get in touch if you’d like to get involved – we’re a friendly lot.”
