Prince to reign at Peckham and Nunhead Film Festival’s opening night

The Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festival returns today for a run of screenings, kicking off with Purple Rain, the musical-drama starring pop icon Prince.

Now in its seventh year, the festival will see book shops, pubs, parks and libraries host 29 screenings of cult classics and blockbusters, across ten days.

Starting at 8pm at the Montague Arms, 1983’s Purple Rain will open the festival, with capacity available for up to 60 guests, with no pre-bookings available.

Also on the opening night, Rye Books will host an outdoor screening of A London Trilogy and Storm Brewing will be played at the Victorian Chapel in Nunhead Cemetery.

Three screenings will take place at a different venue each night, with Saturday 10 seeing four screenings overall on the penultimate night.

Other noteworthy picks include The Jungle Book on September 10 at 7.30pm in Burgess Park at the Chumleigh Street entrance.
