Herne Hill Forum appeals to community to help break world record

The Herne Hill Forum has issued a call to arms for locals to help their community’s name go down in history, writes Jessie Kolvin.

The Forum is aiming to beat the world record for ‘Most contributions to a colour by numbers’, on a mural that stretches the length of Herne Hill station’s underpass.

The previous record stood at 454 participants.

But now a new record has been set and it is significantly higher – the number to beat is 1,119.

Contributions from pupils at seven local schools is no longer enough to guarantee success.

So, the Forum is calling on the general public to join the attempt and ensure that Herne Hill enters the Guinness World Book of Records.

The Forum is also seeking volunteers to help on the day, to keep the event running smoothly.

The attempt will take place on Wednesday 12th September, between 4-8pm.

Besides offering a chance at fame, completion of the mural will be an important step in the larger renovation of Herne Hill’s underpass and station.

If you would like to take part in the event, you can register here.
