Elephant & Castle man to hold talk about record-setting solo plane trip

The first British-African person to ever fly solo around the world is to hold a talk about his remarkable feat in Elephant & Castle.

Lola Odujinrin, the first British-African pilot to manage the trip in a single engine aircraft, is hosting a talk on his expedition at Toulouse Lautrec on September 25.

The pilot hopes to inspire young people to follow their dreams with the talk, which will detail his ‘One Man One Plane’ journey around the world.

He said: “I want people to know that nothing is impossible if you have a vision and you act with purpose and intent.

“My goal is to continue to break new grounds and give back to my community – Elephant & Castle – which supported me through my darkest times.”

Lola will talk about how refusing to accept defeat and achieving his first wing as a private pilot at just 20.

He completed the record-breaking expedition on March 29th, 2017, landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, the same airport he departed from in June 2016.

The pilot said he hopes to continue breaking records and one day wants to become a philanthropist.

He first became interested in flying at a young age after making his own kites.

The talk takes place at the Toulouse Lautrec on 140 Newington Butts, Elephant & Castle on September 25.

Tickets cost £12 and can be bought here.
