West Norwood: Two arrested after teen fatally shot dead in broad daylight

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was shot dead in broad daylight in West Norwood yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the shooting shortly after 4pm on Wednesday March 27 by the ambulance service, who were tending to a young man in a critical condition in Friar Mews.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.45pm.

He is believed to have been in his late teens.

Yesterday evening, police said they were in the process of informing his next-of-kin, and were awaiting formal identification. A post-mortem is scheduled to take place in due course.

A crime scene remains at the site of the shooting, a five minute walk from West Norwood station.

Police are currently scouring local CCTV footage and reviewing forensic analysis at the scene.

However, detectives are urging witnesses to speak to police at the scene, call officers, or Crimestoppers anonymously.

Anyone with information should call police on 101/CAD 5335 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
