Appeal for witnesses after suspected sexual assault on Borough High Street

Detectives have issued an appeal for witnesses after a suspected sexual assault near Borough Market.

The incident took place outside of the Pret A Manger shop on Borough High Street in the early hours of the morning of Sunday September 23.

A man in his thirties is believed to have approached a woman standing outside the shop at around 2:30am, calling out expletives before sexually assaulting her.

The woman is said to have pushed the suspected assailant away, causing him to fall into the path of a black saloon-style car.

The victim described a Chinese man getting out of the vehicle to take photographs of the car.

Police believe after the suspect fell onto the car he hit the victim before running off.

The man is described as being of Middle-Eastern origin, around 5 ft 6in or 5 ft 7in tall and between 30-35 years old.

He was wearing a body warmer and blue jeans.

Anyone with information should contact DS Richard Thomas on 101 or on 020 7232 6485, quoting reference 3028799/18.
