Police appeal to identify witness who could help bring ‘London Bridge rapist’ to justice

A man, who intervened and helped a woman raped near London Bridge to safety, is being sought by police in the hope he can help officers identify her attacker.

The man who came to the woman’s aid

The victim, a tourist staying in Borough High Street, was attacked by a man at around 3.30am on November 1 after he approached her from behind and threatened her while she was walking home.

Another man interrupted the attack, and the suspect fled, taking the victim’s jacket, key and some cash with him. The passer-by then took the woman to her hostel.

Police officers are now hoping to trace this witness (pictured) in the hope he can help their investigation.

The woman’s attacker is described as black, aged in his late 20s – early 30s, around 6ft tall and with an average build, brown eyes and short dark hair. He was said to have an ‘English’ accent.

Anyone with information should contact investigating officer DC Slee by calling 101.
