Mystery surrounds Camberwell shooting

Gunfire was heard on Monday night, but by the time the police had arrived in Harris Street, the suspects had fled the scene.

A witness dialled 999 just after 10.30pm after they heard a shot fired.

A suspect was then seen driving off in a black hatchback towards Benhill Road, Camberwell.

Firearms officers searched the scene and the surrounding area but there was no trace of the suspect or any weapon or empty shells.

The London Ambulance Service was called but there were no injuries and no one was taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made but enquiries continue.
