Man stabbed to death on Lordship Lane named by police

The man stabbed to death in Lordship Lane in the early hours of Sunday morning has been named by police.

Officers say they believe the victim is 39-year-old Dennis Anderson, from Lewisham. A post-mortem is due to be held tomorrow, (Tuesday, February 12).

The Met was called at 2.35am on Sunday, February 10, after reports of a man stabbed in Lordship Lane near the junction with East Dulwich Grove, in SE22.

Police have now confirmed they are searching for a suspect who fatally attacked Mr Anderson after an altercation broke out in an off-licence, and have appealed for anyone in the area at the time to come forward.

Detective Inspector Domenica Catino, who is leading the investigation, said: “We need to hear from anyone that may have been in the area on Sunday morning who may have information on the circumstances of this tragic turn of events.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could really help our investigation.

“We are aware of speculation around the motive for this attack and can now confirm that the suspect approached Mr Anderson in an off-license shop before an altercation broke out and the suspect delivered a fatal attack.

“Our top priorities now are to support Mr Anderson’s family and catch the person responsible for this horrible attack. Officers are working around the clock to locate this suspect and bring him into custody.”

Anyone with information can report it anonymously through Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111 or call the Met’s incident room on 020 8721 4961.
