Man and youth plead not guilty to Peckham Poundland theft and assault

A 20-year-old man and a youth have pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and shoplifting.

Shahan Ali, of  Perry Vale, Lewisham,  and a 17-year-old who cannot be named were accused of stealing two energy drinks from the Poundland in Rye Lane, Peckham, on January 13.  They were also charged with assaulting a man at the store.

The pair denied both counts and will be tried at Croydon Magistrates Court on August 13.

They have both been granted bail with the conditions that they do not contact each other or visit the Rye Lane Poundland store.
