Man accused of reversing over police officer

A man accused of deliberately reversing over a police officer appeared in court on Saturday.

The officer, who is in his 20s, is still in hospital with serious leg and hand injuries after the incident last Thursday.

Nicholas Scantlebury is alleged to have deliberately driven over the policeman during a routine vehicle stop in Lewisham on Thursday, July 19.

The 35-year-old from Berdant Lane in Catford appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court, charged with Section 18 GBH with intent, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
