EXCLUSIVE: More patrols and extra CCTV in Dulwich after spate of school run robberies

Extra police patrols and more CCTV are being put in place in Dulwich after a spate of robberies targeting school boys.

Officers say the targeted attacks towards children going to and from school spiked towards the end of last year. The News understands children from the area’s top private schools have been particularly affected.

More CCTV is being installed in Dulwich to help catch those responsible, and parents can expect to see officers are on patrol during peak times, including at the beginning and end of the school day.

A teenage boy has now been arrested and charged in connection with three incidents, and will be sentenced next month.

Three other robberies are still being investigated, and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Inspector Owen Pyle, told the News: “A seventeen-year-old male has been arrested and charged with two robberies and one attempted robbery committed on Monday, January 21, in the Dulwich Village and Dulwich Wood area.

“He was appeared at court on Wednesday, January 23 and pleaded guilty to all three offences.

“He is due to be sentenced on Tuesday, February 12.

“Officers from Central South CID are still investigating several other reports of robbery in the Dulwich Village area.”

Inspector Pyle confirmed officers are working with schools in the area, and Southwark Council, to make sure any similar incidents are being reported.
