Eight arrested after Elmington multiple stabbing, as police reveal one victim has ‘life-changing’ injuries

Police have now made eight arrests as they continue to appeal for footage of last Thursday’s multiple stabbing in Camberwell, which has left one victim with injuries ‘expected to be life-changing’.

A fourteen-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday, August 16, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.

He was charged with possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis and has now been released on bail to appear at Camberwell Youth Court on Wednesday, September 5.

Another fourteen-year-old and five fifteen-year-olds, all male, were also arrested on Thursday on suspicion of violent disorder and released on bail until mid-September.

On Friday, a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has also been released on bail until mid-September pending further enquiries.

Police were called to Landor House at 17.24 on Thursday, August 16, and found four teenage boys suffering from stab wounds.

One of them, aged fifteen, is still in hospital in a ‘serious but stable’ condition and is believed to have sustained ‘life-changing’ injuries.

A second fifteen-year-old victim is also still in hospital, and is stable.

The other two victims were not seriously injured and have been discharged.

Southwark Police’s Detective Inspector Dean Purvis said: “This remains an active and fast paced investigation and although eight arrests have been made, I remain keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has information that would assist the investigation.

“The community is justifiably concerned by this violent incident, whether privately filmed or posted on social media.

“I urge anyone who becomes aware of footage to contact officers without delay.

“There is no place on our streets for mindless violence such as this and together we need to be resolute in driving that message home.”
