Dulwich hit-and-run victim still in hospital after two months

Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run as the victim is still lying in hospital two months after the collision in East Dulwich.

On Sunday March 29 police were called to the junction of East Dulwich Road and Worlingham Road at 6.30am where a moped rider had been left seriously injured.

The driver of a black Ford Fiesta, believed to have hit the 41-year-old victim, had fled the scene.

The moped-rider from Hertfordshire was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury and remains there in a stable condition to this day.

It is understood the Fiesta left the scene via the Goose Green roundabout onto Lordship Lane heading towards Sydenham. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Lapse Wood Walk, Forest Hill, having sustained significant damage to its front end.

The car was reported stolen later that same day from an address in Forest Hill.

Detective Constable Neal Pryce, from the South East Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to, or anyone with any information about, the collision to contact us.

“We are also still keen to hear from anyone who would have seen a significantly damaged car being abandoned in Lapse Wood Walk, SE23.”

On Sunday March 29 a twenty-year-old woman was arrested at an address in Sydenham on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. She was taken into custody at a south London police station but has since been eliminated from enquiries with  no further action to be taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 020 8285 1574.
