Cafe staff in Southwark Park Road restrain robber

Customers at a Bermondsey cafe were left stunned on Monday when staff took on a man allegedly attempting to rob the eatery.

The alleged incident happened at around 3.30pm at the Pop Inn Cafe in Southwark Park Road.

One witness said: “I couldn’t believe it. There were a crowd of people outside the cafe and I looked in and he was being restrained. The staff were just sitting on him and he couldn’t get up.”

A man has been charged in connection with the incident.
