Man charged in connection with ‘vile attack’ on pregnant woman

A man has been charged following a brutal assault on a heavily pregnant woman in Peckham on Monday evening, which resulted in her losing her baby.

Kevin Wilson, 20, of the Longfield Estate, SE1 was charged this morning with child destruction and grievous bodily harm with intent. He will appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court at 10am this morning.

Despite treatment at a south London hospital, medical staff could not save the unborn child of the victim of the attack, who was 32 weeks pregnant.

A member of the public called police who then gave first aid at the scene in Talfourd Place just after 8pm. The victim remains in a critical condition in intensive care.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8345 3985 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
