A total of £500,000 of funding for youth-led projects has been announced by Southwark Council, writes Josh Mellor…

Schemes co-produced by and aimed at young people in the borough will be eligible for the grants.

The council hopes Positive Futures Fund will help divert young people from violent crime.

“As a council, we want young people to know that they have a say in their future and we want them to work with us to shape the services they use.”

The grants are available to schemes that deal with key issues such as knife crime and health.

Applications for grants for one year projects worth £15,000 must be submitted by the Friday, May 3, 2019.
