Dame Darcey Bussell had a ball visiting Morley radio station

A community radio station in the Waterloo area was visited by ballet dancer and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Dame Darcey Bussell to mark its second anniversary.

Ms Bussell and Dr Peter Lovatt came to the Waterloo centre of Morley College, whose students and staff run Morley Radio, to give a talk on dance and wellbeing.

The radio station is celebrating two years of existence by opening its second and third studio in Chelsea and north Kensington.
Morley Radio Manager Camilo Salazar said: “Over the last 24 months we’ve been able to work closely with students, staff and local communities around the Waterloo centre, and it’s been an incredible two years.

“Together we’ve experienced the important role that radio plays in the college’s life, and in the communities we serve. We’re humbled too, to have played a part in Morley’s approach to and recovery from the pandemic, not only as a communications channel but also as a creative outlet for many of our students and staff.”

Morley College London Principal Dr Andrew Gower said: “There’s a lot of excitement around Morley Radio. It’s rapidly become an integral part of the Morley experience as a fantastic way of connecting people through the sharing of ideas, experiences and interests.

“As with all great radio, with live streams and a growing library of podcasts, Morley Radio offers a personalised experience to each and every listener. By tuning in we’re drawn closer to Morley and the exceptional range of learning opportunities available. I am hugely grateful to everyone involved in making Morley Radio such a success.”
