Twelve week old Rotherhithe flower shop wins Florist of the Year at Good Funeral Awards

A twelve-week-old Rotherhithe florists won the prestigious Florist of the Year award at the Good Funeral Awards last week, after rising to fame in the community.

Named after its owner, Debbie Western Flowers in Albion Street snapped up the award in the same week as getting into the Good Florist Guide (GFG).

To be part of GFG, each florist undergoes a rigorous evaluation process before being approved.

Debbie said: “We are proud I have to be honest. Getting into the Good Florist Guide is amazing – we got the Michelin Star of flowers!

“We have only had the shop open for twelve weeks. I’ve been doing flower for forty years, with 25 years being the Head of Floristry at Southwark College. It’s just gone on from there.

“We are passionate about flowers, design, quality and the service we give to each of our customers so it is wonderful to have this recognised.

“What’s special about our business is that we provide all areas of floristry and focus on excellent customer service.”
