Leading children’s hospital radio network celebrates 10 year anniversary

The biggest children’s hospital radio network in the UK is celebrating its ten-year-anniversary since having opened at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, writes Nora Selina Helal

To celebrate, Radio Lollipop, also based in Great Ormond Street Hospital since 1979, are throwing a mini-indoor festival called Lollipop live to celebrate the occasion, on Saturday, September 29.

Claire Paxton-Ryder, from Radio Lollipop, said: “It will be without a doubt, one of the most uplifting and inspiring days of your life.”

During this special occasion, there will be the release of a new promotional video – filmed in the Atrium at Evelina London and voiced by Sally Phillips.

Lollipop Live will be hosting music-in-healthcare practitioners, Zoe Konez and Marina Tiffeny, who specialise in bringing live interactive music for wellbeing into hospitals.

Also performing on the day, are blues/folk duo Ferris & Sylvester, whose EP ‘Made In Streatham’ shot straight to the top of the iTunes Singer Songwriter charts earlier this year, and 19-year-old Casey Lowry who was previously featured on Radio 1 & regularly sells out some of the UK’s gig venues, will also be joining in the fun.

Last but not least, a selection of London’s West End theatrical stars will lead the audience through a medley of songs including tracks from Frozen, Moana, Aladdin, Hairspray & the Little Mermaid.

Radio Lollipop is an International children’s charity run entirely by volunteers; providing care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital.
