Bermondsey’s Bruin JFC looking for new players

A Bermondsey Under 9s football side is on the look-out for fresh talent after waving goodbye to a handful of players who’ve moved onto professional clubs, writes Kirsty Purnell…

Bruin JFC, whose players are mainly in school year 4, are looking for youngsters to compete in their Sunday matches as part of the SELKENT League.

Matches cost £6 per week to take part in but training, which takes place on a Saturday at Southwark Park at 10am, is free. “Obviously, money is a high priority for people so I’ve tried to keep the training free,” said Bruin coach, Peter Farrell, who’s been training the youngsters for three years. The seven-a-side team’s home ground is Shooters Hill but away matches can be anywhere around south east London and Kent.

Bruin are mainly looking to recruit players who are able to participate in the weekly Sunday matches but youngsters who can only train on a Saturday are also welcome.
