25 firefighters called to put out Borough hotel fire

Four fire engines and 25 firefighters rushed to put out a fire in a hotel in Borough on Tuesday (December 14).

Fire crews were called to the blaze on Great Dover Street at about 10.45am, and the fire was under control two hours later.

Part of the ground floor was damaged by the fire, which is thought to have been an accident caused by faulty electrical equipment.

Around 25 people left the building before the arrival of the fire crews from Dockhead, Old Kent Road and Dowgate in the City.
